Faces of Fatherhood, Inc. TeamDad.com
is a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that develops,
produces and distributes quality, inexpensive fatherhood materials to dads. Our
primary focus is to gently get dads and father figures to understand the
importance of their fatherhood role and provide them with ideas, suggestions and
easy-to-do activities for them to better “connect” with their children. We do
this in the form of an annual Faces of Fatherhood Calendar and a
TeamDad Father Friendly Resource Guide.
Research shows dads have a
unique role in child development, yet most aren’t aware of this, and are
spending less and less time with their children. Many are working longer hours,
providing more FOR their family and children, thus spending less time WITH them.
Others simply don’t make the time available, for a variety of reasons. Our
materials provide the facts and suggestions for dads to know and use, so they
can start to spend more time with their children.
We are NOT religious based,
ethnic focused, socio-economic slanted or geographically limited as dads and
children span every imaginable group. Plus, we DON’T ask Dads to volunteer or
badger them for donations, as we simply want them to read and apply our helpful
suggestions. That’s it.
Our distribution goal is
to understand and match a company’s male target audiences and programs to
our existing distribution programs
and have them fund whatever they can in order to freely get our materials in the
hands of dads. And, with our ability to reach dads through channels many
companies don’t consider, and our ability to inexpensively customize both items
with their corporate message and logo, it proves to be quite a useful and
inexpensive marketing tool while helping children, mothers, fathers and
communities.
Partial List of Faces of
Fatherhood, Inc. Materials Distribution Programs
There are many ways
companies, government offices & organizations use our materials to reach dads
and father figures. We have no minimum or maximum corporate donation
requirements. The demand is huge, and we go as far as our funds allow.
Here are some of our programs:
· Newborn Delivery Hospitals
– Placed in Mom’s “sample items or goodie bag” at the time Mom & child are picked up by Dad to go home from the delivery hospital.
· Corporations
- Distributing calendars to their employees at Christmas, inserting a Resource
Guide in employee payroll envelopes, in-packing Resource Guides or Calendars in
the products they retail such as fishing tackle boxes, board games, inside
packets of fun runs/marathons, in auto race event and radio station live remote
goodie bags, etc.
· Sales organizations – Those wanting to demonstrate their care & support of a good cause, in a unique
manner, for use in their mail contact with their customers & prospects
(insurance, financial, real estate, etc.).
· Lamaze classes – Given to Dads during one of their classes. This is the time when Dads seem to
be the most concerned as to whether they will become a good father, and is often
the only significant dad-focused (versus parent-focused) material dads receive
during pregnancy.
· Head Start Offices – Many are using Federal Fatherhood Funds to obtain what they can from us, but
their need is 20-fold what their funding allows.
· Family Counselors – Given to dads (and to moms to give to dads & their child’s father figures) in
appropriate cases involving parent/child situations.
· School Districts
(First Day Programs, Report Card Pick-up, PTA Fundraisers, etc.) – One school district distributed 110,000 during a 2001 Report Card Pick-up
program. Others use it as a fundraiser, especially if it is donated by a local
corporation. Any school district in America could do this if supplied with
these materials.
· Fatherhood
Organizations, Family Service Organizations, Civic groups (Rotary), school
counselors, etc. – A natural fit, but
many are nonprofit and can’t afford to buy the materials. TeamDad sends many a
complimentary supply for use in their mailings, meetings, conventions and local
community booth displays.
· YMCAs, Boy/Girl
Scouts, Campfire USA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, etc. – A perfect fit for all of these types of organizations as they have very close
mission statements. Most agree TeamDad is providing an inexpensive, quality
resource they don’t have the time, manpower or focus to develop.
· Governmental
(local, state and national) departments & offices, judges & courts - Groups that “touch” parents, children and schools. This ranges from local
candidates using the materials as part of their election platform, to Mayors,
State Representatives & Senators encouraging their departments to use them, to
judges requiring incarcerated or probation dads to prove they did 6 or more
TeamDad suggestions each month as a parole requirement.
Faces of Fatherhood Calendar
The Faces of Fatherhood Calendar, which has annually won
awards from the National Calendar Marketing Association since its creation, is
tastefully executed to communicate the bond a child feels with Dad or the father
figure in their life. It features heart-warming essays from over 300,000
Kindergarten - 12th grade essays received from students competing in What My
Father Means to Me national essay contests. This calendar, and the TeamDad Father Friendly Resource Guide, provides over 200 quick-read, easy-to-do
activities and ideas for fathers and father figures to become more "connected"
with their children. Every Calendar includes the TeamDad Father Friendly Resource Guide pullout pamphlet.
TeamDad Father Friendly Resource Guide
This specially-developed 16-panel Resource Guide contains
suggestions and ideas under 14 individual topics (such as Fathers in Education
and About Raising Daughters/Sons), with internet links and contact points to
over 60 caring government, social and private organizations and groups that will
provide more in-depth assistance on those topics. The Resource Guide is also
available separately, even designed as a self-mailer, to allow its timeless
information to be distributed throughout the year.
Both the Calendar & Resource Guide have various spaces
available for customizing with a sponsoring company’s or organization’s own
message, logo and charitable program overview, if they choose to do so, which
provides more support for using our materials.
Our program is simple and addresses a huge void. Last
year, we distributed 500,000 Calendars; 800,000 Resource Guides. There is
a demand for over 5 million each year. We go as far as our funds allow.
Further, our materials compliment & supplement (not compete with) every
organization we have encountered, like the Red Cross, YMCA, Campfire USA,
Boy/Girl Scouts, United Way, Twin Towers (and other) Fund, Big Brothers/Big
Sisters, etc. They are all starting to learn about us and what we do, and like
what we do since, unlike other nonprofit organizations, we don’t
actively solicit members (although membership is welcomed & it’s free) or
individual contributions (although we accept donations as every dollar
helps). These organizations tell us we are providing a good, targeted,
inexpensive tool for them which they don’t have the time, focus or manpower to
develop, and encourage us to find corporate sponsors to fund these materials so
these organizations can put them to use within their membership.
Plus, since we can customize our materials with logos and
consumer or corporate messages, their recipients know who to thank for the
materials. While a small portion of some of our distribution channels shun the
promotion of corporate messages, most allow it because of the public service
benefit of the materials and the way in which it is presented. It’s truly
win-win-win all the way around.
Any funding you can provide, or any funding
source you can direct us to will be greatly appreciated, and will help the
children, dads, moms and communities we are able to touch. I encourage you to
forward this to other corporate, HR and Marketing/Brand Manager personnel to
allow them to determine if they can put our material to effective use. We are
only looking to get this into distribution so it can help dads better connect
with their children.
Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.
